For any essay writing assignment that your professor assigns you with, you may be given a few days to finish them before the deadline. The time you have been given might be enough to read and study the topic before writing your essay. For longer essay writing projects, however, your professor might be giving you a few more weeks before the expected date of submission. That may seem like a long time—long enough to delay your essay writing task for a week or two so you can focus on your other coursework duties.

Do not even go towards that train of thought. If your professor has given your essay assignments longer weeks before the deadline, that will mean that you have to have a more in-depth study about the topic so you can hand in an essay that is well-presented with facts and convincing evidence. Longer projects also require that you plan ahead and break down your tasks for the weeks properly. This way, the essay writing project will be easier to accomplish. Create a schedule of these tasks for yourself and stick to it.

Before you create a schedule, think of the things you have to do so your essays will have the quality that you aim for. Basically, the whole essay writing process is composed of the following:

• reading about the topic
• researching for secondary information and supporting details
• preparing an essay outline
• writing the first draft
• rewriting your draft
• referencing
• finishing the final copy of the essay

There are additional tasks you might want to include in breaking down your major tasks into minor ones. If you do, make sure to give time to them as well. How much time you will delegate for a task will depend on how easy that task is for you. It is more advisable that you give more time than what you expected so when sudden changes occur, you will not easily get panicked feel more at ease about it. It will also give you more time to revise your essay if ever you have thought off or any additional ideas you want to incorporate in your essay.
